Tower Hill School seeks a collaborative, thoughtful and reliable full-time Assistant/Associate Director of Communications and Marketing to drive and manage projects in storytelling and creative content for the school. This position focuses on writing and editing projects for multiple communication channels, while also contributing to photography and digital projects as part of a cohesive team. A central focus of the role will be on creating work products that trumpet the joy and value of a Tower Hill education to prospective families, supporting the work of the Enrollment Management team.
Reporting to the Director of Communications and Marketing, the Assistant/Associate Director of Communications and Marketing is a key member of a three-person communications team and will lead writing and copyediting efforts, helping to create the school’s narrative internally and externally. In addition, the Assistant/Associate Director will contribute to institutional storytelling in a broad range of materials including newsletters, social media, biannual school magazine, website, alumni outreach and email communications.
The Assistant/Associate Director of Communications and Marketing will work in tandem with the Director of Communications and Marketing to manage the school’s communications strategy, messaging and branding. The candidate will build and maintain strong relationships across the school community by partnering with the admission office, faculty, alumni, students, and parents to craft and refine the school’s story and voice by discovering and amplifying news, successes, diversity, service, and humanity.

Ideal candidates should possess the following credentials and qualities:
- Bachelor’s degree in English, communications, journalism, or a related field
- A minimum of three years experience in the education field, independent schools, and/or nonprofit work
- An outstanding writer, editor, and proofreader who can produce original and accurate copy for a variety of channels, often on a tight timeline

Tower Hill is looking for energetic and motivated substitute teachers and/or proctors to work with teachers at all levels, from Preschool to Upper School, in a hybrid learning environment. Qualified candidates will have a bachelor’s degree and enjoy working across different disciplines. Flexibility in schedules is helpful as there are times we need a substitute without advanced notice.
Substitutes will be provided with lesson plans from the full-time classroom teacher and are asked to follow those in a way that ensures consistency and optimal learning. Tower Hill School seeks a qualified candidate for the position of Math Department Chair to lead and oversee the development and implementation of the Math Department’s curriculum, pedagogy, and assessments in grades 5 - 12. The Math Department Chair also provides influence in curriculum decisions K-4, and acts as a leader in the wider school community by helping to advance strategic priorities as set by the school and in collaboration with other department chairs. The ideal candidate will have a strong academic background in mathematics, be versatile enough to teach the various levels of math appropriate at a college preparatory school, and be comfortable working with technology. Department Leadership Responsibilities:
- Conduct observations and evaluations of teachers, with particular emphasis on those who need more attention or who are due for a more in-depth review, including new teachers.
- Ensure the proper sequence and documentation of content and skills within the department.
- Serve as an instructional leader within the department by staying current of best practices, while modeling and encouraging their use.
- Ensure that each course is well designed and that information about curricula is communicated to all stakeholders.
- Lead departmental discussions and initiatives that will strengthen teachers’ skills, the department’s program and the school’s goals.
- Make sure that classroom practices like assessments and grading are fair and consistent between different instructors.

Staff Openings
Tower Hill School seeks substitute school nurses for per diem coverage in a PreK-12 independent school setting. Additional long term substitute coverage is needed in the spring of 2020. The successful candidate will be student-centered and committed to a team approach to school-wide health and wellness. This position requires a high degree of interpersonal communication and organizational skills in addition to general nursing duties. Experience in pediatric or community health is preferred.
Requirements:
- Graduate of an accredited RN nursing program
- Active Delaware Registered Nurse License (or compact state)

Coaching Opportunities
Tower Hill School is seeking qualified candidates to fill the position of Head Coach for Varsity Girls Tennis starting with the 2025-2026 academic year.
Tower Hill strives to build upon a competitive varsity girls tennis program that has achieved a high level of success in both team and individual competitions. Candidates are expected to have a thorough understanding of skill development and utilize coaching strategies that motivate players and build a positive team culture. In addition to coaching responsibilities and team management, the head coach assumes general oversight of sub-varsity and middle school teams, coordinates the girls tennis coaching staff, and is expected to contribute in admission functions when necessary. Candidates should also be able to demonstrate the ways in which inclusive and equitable practices inform their approach to coaching and team building within the program.
This position is compensated with a stipend, and coaches are required to abide by the rules and regulations established by the Delaware Interscholastic Athletic Association as well as all Tower Hill School policies and procedures

- Three or more years of previous tennis coaching experience at the high school, club, and/or college level.

Tower Hill School is seeking qualified candidates to fill the position of Head Strength and Conditioning Coach from November 2025 through June 2026 to lead evidence-based programming designed to maximize athletic performance, prevent injury and develop lifelong habits of fitness and mindful nutrition. This is a part-time position scheduled for the hours between 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. on days when school is in session. The Head Strength and Conditioning Coach will report to the Director of Athletics, and work closely with our Director of Physical Health, Assistant Director of Athletics, Head Coaches and Athletic Trainers.
With a rich 106-year athletic history, over 400 Tower Hill students in grades 7-12 compete on 60 interscholastic sports teams across 16 sports. Tower Hill’s athletic program is a multi-sport program in which students can play on teams in each athletic season.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Design and implement training programs to improve students’ strength, speed, agility and overall athleticism using evidence-based best practices.
- Meet with head program coaches to discuss sport and player specific needs and design strength and conditioning programs accordingly.
- Schedule team-based strength and conditioning workouts for Middle School and Upper School teams in cooperation with the head coach of each specific sport between the hours of 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. on school days.
- Supervise and monitor student-athletes while using the weight room and strength and conditioning equipment.
- Teach athletes best practices, sound fundamentals and proper techniques for using free weights and other strength and conditioning training equipment.
- Educate athletes and coaches on mindful, safe and healthy nutrition and supplementation.
- Work in cooperation with athletic training staff regarding injury prevention, injury recovery and individual athletes’ return-to-play milestones.
- Conduct pre/post season testing for athletes and teams to monitor athlete progress during their playing seasons and throughout the year.
- Advise coaches on pre-game and pre-practice warm-up protocols as well as post-activity cooldowns.
- Stay current with industry best practices, equipment and programming for Middle and Upper School athletes.
- Motivate and connect with athletes across all levels of experience, interest and abilities.
- Maintain an orderly and clean environment in the weight room that is consistent with established protocols and expectations of the school.
- Keep inventory of equipment and supplies in the weight room.
- Update the Athletic Director on equipment and supply needs and/or upgrades recommended to provide Tower Hill athletes with the best possible strength training experience available.
- Design dynamic, energizing summer conditioning programs that prepare all student athletes for their upcoming seasons.
- Participate and present during coaches meetings in coordination with the athletic administration.
- Attend all mandatory meetings as requested by the school administrators, and attend optional meetings as needed for the purposes of athletics.
Qualifications and Character Traits:
- Bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology, Exercise Science, Athletic Training or other related field
- Current National Strength & Conditioning Association certification required. USA Weightlifting certification desired
- Minimum of two years’ experience working with adolescent athletes
- Experience working in co-ed school-based athletic programs preferred
- Current CPR/AED certification
- Knowledge and proficiency working in Microsoft Office and/or Google Suite
- Must be able to work under pressure while maintaining a positive attitude and maintaining professionalism at all times

The athletics program at Tower Hill competes in the Delaware Independent Schools Conference and Delaware Interscholastic Athletics Association, offering 15 sports at the middle school level (grades 7-8) and 19 sports at the upper school level (grades 9-12). Tower Hill believes that the physical well being of our students is as important as their intellectual development and that many important lessons are taught through an athletic experience. Therefore, athletics are a fundamental part of the total curriculum at Tower Hill and are an integral part of the school day. Students in grades 7-10 are expected to participate in interscholastic athletics during each season while students in grades 11-12 are expected to participate in interscholastic athletics during two of the three seasons.
The objectives of teachers and coaches at Tower Hill are identical: to help young people reach their fullest potential intellectually, emotionally, and physically. Coaches are teachers who deal with physical fitness as well as the fundamentals and strategies of sport.
