Message to the Tower Hill Community December 17, 2013

Harry Baetjer, Acting Head of School
We promised to update you periodically as we move forward in response to the events in October.

A preliminary risk assessment of the safety and security of our campus has been completed, and several upgrades will be carried out over the holiday break. These include, but are not limited to, improvements to the front entrance of the school.

On December 16, Deputy Attorney General Patricia Dailey Lewis and Deputy Attorney General Janice Tigani completed an educational session with the faculty and staff on how to identify and report child abuse. Ms. Lewis was particularly well-suited to do the training as she had attended the majority of the community gatherings earlier in the fall.

Workshops for parents on how to protect children from child abuse will be conducted by the Stewards of Children. Sessions will be held after the holiday break. We had hoped to provide this resource earlier but were delayed as the organization was in the process of completing updates to their training program.

We do not have an update at this time regarding Dr. Wheeler’s arraignment which we were notified would take place by December 20. We will share information with you as soon as it is available.

Sincerely,

Harry Baetjer
Acting Head of School
