Charlie Quimby Wins National Geographic Bee

Eighth grader Charlie Quimby won the school-level competition of the National Geographic Bee on Friday, January 11. By winning the first round of the 25th annual bee, he moves on to the next level of the competition.

School winners take a written qualifying test and may move on to the state competition to be held on April 5. State winners receive an all-expenses paid trip to Washington D.C. to participate in the national competition. The winner receives a $25,000 college scholarship and a trip to the Galapagos Islands, courtesy of Lindblad Expeditions and National Geographic. Jeopardy host Alex Trebek will moderate the national finals on May 22 on TV. Congratulations, Charlie! We wish you the best of luck.
