Tower Hill School Announces National Merit Scholarship Winner

Tower Hill School Headmaster Dr. Christopher Wheeler has announced that Senior Sean Sullivan has been named a National Merit Scholarship winner. Sean is one of 2,500 distinguished high school students from across the country who have won National Merit $2,500 Scholarships.
Sean was initially selected from more than 1.5 million juniors in over 22,000 high schools who took the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT®) in 2011, which served as an initial screen of program entrants for the 2013 National Merit Scholarship Program.

National Merit $2500 Scholarship winners are the finalists in each state judged to have the strongest combination of accomplishments, skills and potential for success in rigorous college studies. The final selection of scholarship winners was made by a committee of educators based on the students' academic record, including difficulty level of subjects studied and grades earned; scores from two standardized tests; contributions and leadership in school and community activities; an essay written by the student; and the recommendation written by a high school official.

Sean currently resides in Wilmington, Delaware, and will be attending Yale University this fall. He is pictured with his parents, John and Lisa Sullivan, and Headmaster Chris Wheeler.
