Four Juniors Capture Top Awards on American Chemical Society Exam

Congratulations to juniors Matt Smith, Jim Guan, Maddie Cann and Ryan Cleary who swept four out of the top five honors in Delaware for their performance on the American Chemical Society High School Exam.

Matt Smith captured first place and Jim Guan placed second. Tying for fourth place were Maddie Cann and Ryan Cleary. For their strong performance, students will receive monetary awards from the Delaware section of the ACS.

The exam, which is open to all schools in the state, covers the entire year of general chemistry. Last year Tower Hill captured top awards when James Damewood and Sean Sullivan placed first and second, respectively, on the exam.

Congratulations to Chemistry teacher Leigh Thompson for preparing her students to compete against larger schools in the state that have a strong emphasis on science programs.
