College Playwrights Pen Original Works for 8th Grade’s “Reality, Really?” Festival

This year's eighth-grade play festival, Reality, really?, features four works created specifically for Tower Hill by college playwrights. The theme is reality television, with scripts spoofing popular reality shows.

First Generation by Megan Branisel explores what happens on the television show The Social Life! In this reality show, eight social media platforms are forced to live together under one roof (much like Big Brother) - and fun and mayhem ensue.

Kate Aspengren has taken the popular TV show Dance Moms and turned it completely on its head. In this spoof, the parents are the dancers and the kids are the snarky observers. Watch the craziness develop as Middle School teachers take the stage with eighth-grade students.

The Largest Loser, Ocean Edition by Olivia Leisinger shows several large ocean animals as they face their struggles to lose weight and change their lives. See what happens as the ocean versions of this reality television show face the trainers… and the scales.

Ms. Mason’s Mysterious Mannequins by Catie Staff follows the show A&J’s Antiques traveling the back roads of America and discovering some truly unique items.
