Hillers Make Thanksgiving Brighter for Families in Need

The Tower Hill rallied as a school community to help those in need this Thanksgiving. Students collected more than 100 bags of canned goods and delivered Thanksgiving turkeys to help Delawareans.

 

Jefferson Awards volunteers Blair Isken (top left) and Brandon Nitsche (top right) met with Kalee Kennedy ’15 and Gov. Jack Markell at the NOR Enterprises Turkey Give Away last week. Students delivered several dozen turkeys to the effort with Director of Service Learning Chris Morrow. 

On Friday, Nov. 20, eighth-grade Student Council officers Sarah Greenberg, Phoebe Brinker and Thomas Zehner made quite a stir at the local Acme. Using the proceeds from the Middle School Halloween party, they were able to purchase $540 worth of food to donate to local families this Thanksgiving, including 21 large turkeys. Thank you to everyone who attended the party or otherwise supported the Middle School's effort to make Thanksgiving a little brighter for families in Wilmington. 

For the fourth consecutive year, several members of our Tower Hill CulinArt team prepared and served Thanksgiving dinner at the Ronald McDonald House. Jerry Buckworth had contacted RDH four years ago looking for a community service "team" project and ended up filling in for another family at the last minute. “Each year, we pick up a few new people that want to help, and after they do, they come back again and again,” Jerry said. “We all feel it's a privilege for us to be there to help the families have as good a holiday as possible.”
