College Admissions - An Impressive List

Dear parents,

Last weekend I spent time with our daughter, a senior at Ethel Walker, to revisit colleges where she has been admitted. So, I completely understand and share in the excitement and anxiety of those of you whose children are also making their college decisions this spring. I am so proud of our senior class! They are fortunate to have many wonderful college options, especially in one of the country's most competitive years demographically. The Class of 2016 received acceptances that included Stanford, Yale, Brown, Amherst, Swarthmore, Bucknell, Johns Hopkins, Boston College, Wellesley… to name just a few. Click here for the impressive full list.

For those of you with younger students, please know that Tower Hill offers excellent college counseling and resources to help our students make informed decisions about their academic futures. Jill Lauck and Jennifer Meeker meet with students and parents for personalized consultations (even available during the summer!); they offer special workshops and events for students and parents; they read college essays and write student recommendations; they send a monthly e-newsletter and bring over 100 college representatives to campus.

With such an abundance of information and logistics, however, it is not uncommon for some students and parents to feel overwhelmed. Our newly updated and streamlined College Counseling Guide outlines a grade by grade overview, the standardized testing timeline, and a glossary of terms. Feel free to print it out and save a copy for the kitchen counter/drawer.

However, unless your child is now in 10th or 11th Grade, the very best thing you can do is to nurture a love of learning and encourage your child to explore their passions and interests. Colleges and universities all over the country know the caliber of Tower Hill's academic program, and all will be well. Ask our seniors!

Enjoy the weekend,
