A Time-Honored Tradition

Dear Tower Hill Families,

Today is Field Day, a time-honored Tower Hill tradition that I have been waiting all year to experience. I look forward to seeing all those green and white socks! Our Upper School teams and athletes have been competing well in end-of-the-season tournaments, so there is great green and white spirit all around as our Tower Hill community finishes strong.

Field Day is one way in which we celebrate our students and their achievements; next week we have awards ceremonies and Graduation, followed by the 8th Grade Moving Up Day. As we prepare to recognize our students at these festivities, I would like to take a moment to acknowledge the faculty and staff who empower our students to accomplish so much.

On Wednesday we had our final Trustee meeting of the year, followed by a reception recognizing faculty and staff for milestone years of service to Tower Hill. Twenty-nine faculty and staff were honored for 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 35, and 40 years of service. Math Department Chair Jack Smith reached his 40-year anniversary this year. Wow! Simply put, a school that can claim this level of loyalty and dedication amidst its faculty and staff is very fortunate indeed.

Each year in schools, we also bid farewell to well-loved colleagues who are retiring or moving on. Similarly, we welcome new members to the community. CLICK HERE FOR AN ALL-SCHOOL LIST OF FACULTY AND STAFF TRANSITIONS.

Six Tower Hill faculty members who are departing after this year have dedicated more than 25 years of their careers to this school: Deb KaiserTom HughesCarol PepperFrank SinglesKirby Smith and Marie Vayo-Greenbaum. They have taught, coached and advised more students than can be counted in their over 150 collective years of service. I know you join me in thanking them for their extraordinary service to Tower Hill and in wishing them all the very best in their next chapters.

Sincerely,

Elizabeth C. Speers
Head of School
