Winding Down

Dear Tower Hill families,

What a fantastic few weeks for Tower Hill athletics! Our extraordinary
golf team captured Tower Hill’s first golf state title, with Phoebe Brinker becoming the first female DIAA golf champion — and as an eighth-grader, at that. The girls’ lacrosse team made it to the state finals, the boys’ lacrosse and girls soccer teams played in semifinal rounds, tennis players competed well in states… You can read the full recap below, but I would like to applaud all of our athletes, coaches, loyal Green and White Club leaders, and supportive parents on a great spring season. Judging by the athleticism shown by our Lower and Middle Schoolers on Field Day last week, we can expect many more great seasons to come!

Next week we will celebrate our eighth-graders at their Moving Up Day, and we will wrap up our Lower School program, complete exams, and bid farewell to all at the end of the week. Tomorrow we will celebrate the Class of 2016 at Tower Hill’s 96th Annual Graduation Exercises. While I have only had a year to get know our seniors, spending time with them at Senior S'mores at Hayward House, senior coffees, the senior dinner with alum Senator Chris Coons, and this week's Alumni Council dinner with alum Jack Flynn has given me great confidence that these young men and women are ready to lead with confidence and humility. We are conducting exit interviews with our seniors to hear their thoughts on the student experience here at Tower Hill, and we wish them the very best as they head to stellar colleges and universities.

I can hardly believe we all find ourselves in June, as it feels as if I just began my first year at Tower Hill! I cannot thank you enough for the wonderful support, open minds, patience, and hope that you have provided us this year. I could not be more thrilled about the opportunities that lay before us. I look forward to updating you further over the summer. Enjoy the last week of school!

Sincerely,

Elizabeth C. Speers
