Tower Hill Alumnae to Compete in the Olympics


Two former Tower Hill students are in Rio to compete in the 2016 Olympic Games.
 
Caitlin Van Sickle ‘08 made the U.S. Field Hockey Team for her Olympic debut in Rio de Janiero. She played as a defender at North Carolina, where she recognized as a three-time All-American. She is pictured at right at an Olympics Send-Off Game in Pennsylvania with the THS field hockey team.

Team USA beat Argentina in an 2-1 upset on Aug. 6. Watch the game here. On Monday, Aug. 8 the team defeated Australia 2-1, with Van Sickle scoring one of the two goals. 
 
Elena Delle Donne, who attended Tower Hill in lower and middle school, has been named to the U.S. Olympic Women’s Basketball Team. Delle Donne plays with the Chicago Sky and was named the WNBA’s Most Valuable Player in 2015. She is pictured below at a basketball camp she held at Tower Hill last spring.
 
In the 2012 Olympics in London, swimmer Andrew Gemmell, who attended Tower Hill through 8th Grade, placed ninth in the 1,500-meter freestyle.
