Runners had to contend with some rain and wind, though conditions weren't nearly as unpleasant as forecast.
Sinko was among seven Delaware finishers to break three hours. He was joined by Kevin Danahy, 31, of Rehoboth Beach, 2:45:02; Enos Benbow Jr., 25, of Georgetown, 2:47:30; Peter McBride, 21, of Wilmington, 2:48:27; Troy Bockius, 30, of Wilmington, 2:52:47; Herv DaCosta, 41, of Newark, 2:54:45; and Lee Kauffman, 49, of Wilmington, 2:58:23.
Hockessin's Doug White, 64, completed his 34th consecutive Boston Marathon in 3:46:59.
"I'm just happy to have it done," White said. "I was worried most about this one because the weather was predicted to be so bad."
But the rain and wind subsided and the weather actually became quite favorable, White said.
"It rained a little bit on us," said White, who ran with Paul Schweizer (3:46:57), of Newark. "Wind was not a big factor. Once in a while, there'd be a big gust. My feet never really got wet. As usual, the weatherman was wrong. It actually wasn't a bad day to run a good time."
