TowerHill@Home

Our mission for distance learning is to ensure continuity, connection and community by leveraging technology to facilitate student success. Our goals are: academic growth, continued student-teacher connection and ensuring a strong sense of community.

The tools we will use will be simple for students to access and use. The classroom experience that students have come to expect will be delivered via Zoom. Tower Hill has its own dedicated Zoom account and will be offering support to students and faculty. In addition, each session will be recorded and made accessible to those who cannot join the class meeting. Google Docs, TowerNet and a handful of other collaborative tools (e.g. Google Forms, SeeSaw, Google Slides, Quizlet, Kahoot) will be used as well.

Students’ connections to their teachers are our primary focus. We will be delivering this experience in a modified format to account for the realities our students are facing and to keep screen time within reason while still moving the curriculum forward. We will not be shifting their learning entirely to online means, where pre-recorded videos replace the in-class experience. We are here to support students, just as we were in person, with a few adjustments.

Parents and students can find TowerHill@Home instructions and information aggregated in TowerNet by divison under the "Resources" tab. Just log into TowerNet and look for the icons shown in this screenshot:

Teachers use TowerNet’s class pages as the repository for all communication. Teachers teach “live” via Zoom, and all live lessons are recorded and uploaded to class TowerNet pages — so that if it’s not possible to be present during the live class, students can still take advantage of the instruction provided. Teachers in Tower Tots through second grade also communicate with parents via Seesaw. Math, reading and writing are emphasized in daily Zoom lessons, supplemented by one special class taugh live each day by grade.
