Middle School Students Participate in "Hour of Code"

Beginning the week of Dec. 7, students all across the world (and within our very own school!) began participating simultaneously in the Hour of Code. The Hour of Code encourages students of all ages to try programming in a really fun and interactive way.

Last year some of our students participated directly on the Hour of Code website and did an amazing job. This year, we participated in the Hour of Code through Tynker and Made with Code, two online courses that encourage students to try programming through interactive exercises and fun and engaging tools. Our students learned how to program obstacle courses, scavenger hunts, and so much more. Programming and coding allow students to think in an entirely different manner and it builds self-confidence. As the students grasp the concepts, the smiles are endless, and those who “are a bit more tech savvy” thoroughly enjoy helping their classmates. Coding and programming will continue throughout the year in computer classes and within the I.D.E.A. program in Middle School.
