Lower School Explores Strawberry DNA at Science Olympiad

Strawberry DNA and lizards — OH MY! Upper School biology teacher Jennifer Jones wowed Lower Schoolers in Science Olympiad Fun Days by taking student scientists to her laboratory. In addition to getting to experience a real lab environment, our scientists met Lizzie the Lizard and had the chance to get up-close and personal with her behaviors and texture. As if that was not exciting enough, scientists extracted strawberry DNA from fresh strawberries. Scientists and parents were equally impressed!

Science Olympiad Fun Days engage students in a variety of hands-on, fun STEM experiences in a non-competitive, less formal way than the official Science Olympiad. For more information, please contact Ann Clay, After School Director at aclay@towerhill.org.
