Hiller Harvest Food Drive Underway

November is here, and with the change in the weather, our attention is turning to the annual Hiller Harvest — a schoolwide food collection that benefits the Lutheran Community Services (LCS) at St. Stephens Church in Wilmington. LCS provides emergency assistance to families in need, with 13 food pantries throughout the state to provide food for 60,000 people. In addition to nutritional support, they also offer a complete range of housing loans, grants for security deposits, rent and mortgage, and help with utilities to bolster individuals who are trying to get back on their feet.

Over the past six years, Tower Hill has supported the LCS with clothing and food collections. Last year, we delivered over 100 bags of Thanksgiving food items, and we would like to surpass that total this year. This year’s Hiller Harvest will begin on Nov. 7-18, ending with our Jefferson Awards/Students in Action team delivering the food items. During that time, your children may bring in nonperishable food items from the list you will find below. Any questions can be directed to Director of Service Learning Chris Morrow (cmorrow@towerhill.org).
