What is your role at Tower Hill, and how long have you worked here?
Spanish teacher. This is my eleventh year at Tower Hill.
Describe your own education.
I graduated from Princeton University in 1990. Since then I have taught Spanish at the middle and high school levels for 15 years. I also spent seven years working at Swarthmore College, first as Assistant Dean of Admissions and then as Academic Support Coordinator. In this role I ran programs to teach time management and study skills to college students.
Why do you do what you do? What are you passionate about at work?
I love language, I love travel, and I love learning about other cultures. I hope that my passion in these areas inspires the students to explore the world and be curious to meet many people. I want my students to be proud of their language and culture, as well as accepting and celebratory of others.
What do you enjoy doing outside of work?
Outside of school I enjoy spending time with my children — Jesse, who is 20, and Alex, who is 15. I love cooking and baking, belong to a Spanish book club and enjoy spending time with friends.
