Homecoming

Dear Tower Hill families,

Homecoming festivities begin this afternoon with our all-school Founders’ Day and Pep Rally on DeGroat Field at 1:45 p.m. Parents are welcome to join us for some Hiller History, an alumni surprise and lively school spirit. The Green and White Club’s pizza party is tonight at 5 p.m. in the dining hall, followed by the volleyball and soccer games. Click here for the full Homecoming schedule today and tomorrow. We spent Spirit Week practicing cheers, creating green-and-white banners, and donning some fun and silly outfits, including pajamas that looked very cozy to me!

So why all the celebration, and what is Homecoming really about? While it may be hard for our students to believe, one day they too will be Tower Hill alumni. It is at Homecoming that our students recognize that there is a larger Tower Hill family of which they are a part. As they return “home” to Tower Hill one day to reminisce with lifelong friends and connect with former teachers, they will realize that an academic foundation for life that also includes lifelong friendships and a built-in network of Tower Hill alums around the world are part of what distinguishes a Tower Hill education. It is good for our students to be part of traditions that stretch beyond the present; it is good to realize what a privilege it truly is to attend a school that feels like “home” — safe, warm and a place to grow into one’s full self.

We look forward to seeing you and your families this weekend. Homecoming unites Hillers past and present through time-honored traditions, from singing the alma mater to cheering on our athletic teams. This year we extend a special welcome back to the Class of 1967 celebrating its 50th Reunion and the Class of 1992 its 25thReunion. Believe it or not, some day your children will return to campus to mark these special milestones!

Go Green and White!

Sincerely,
Bessie
