Students Participate in Annual Latin Day

On April 10, the Latin 8 and 9 classes participated in the annual Latin Day. Independence hosted this year’s event; other participating schools were Sanford, Tatnall and Upland. Even though the Hiller teams faced stiff competition, the eighth-graders captured the Golden Fleece and won the Herculean Holdup. The ninth-graders dominated the Three Sisters’ Eye toss and the Stygian Stomp. As always, the event’s highlight was the chariot race. The Hiller chariot teams battled admirably, with the 8th Grade coming in 2nd and the 9th Grade winning by a nose.
