Reece Ratliff '21 Places Second at Shakespeare Competition

Reece Ratliff '21 and I attended the English Speaking Union's Delaware state competition for Shakespeare performance on Saturday, Feb. 1. Reece performed a recitation of sonnet #106 and a monologue from the comedy Much Ado About Nothing's Act 2, scene 3, in which the character of Benedick reverses his stance on marriage and declares his determination to requite the love of Beatrice. Reece came in second with a stellar performance, and he and the school deserve to be proud of his commanding presence on stage as well as his superb comprehension of two difficult texts.
