Elizabeth Noseworthy Fitzsimmons '91 Nominated to be U.S. Ambassador to Togolese Republic

Elizabeth Noseworthy Fitzsimmons '91, a career member of the Senior Foreign Service, Class of Minister-Counselor, was nominated by President Biden to be the next United States Ambassador to the Togolese Republic.

“This latest opportunity is grounded in the superb education I received at Tower Hill,” Fitzsimmons said. “In fact, my very first chance to travel outside the U.S. came from then-Senator Biden who selected me as one of two Japan U.S. Senate scholars from Delaware in 1989 and set me on the path to my career with the State Department. I will never forget the moment I was called out of my biology class with Mr. Mitchell to take the phone call from Sen. Biden’s office (this was in the pre-cell phone days) and the excitement of that chance to see the world in a whole new way.”
