Brian Smigielski class of 1998 came to talk to the Tower Hill physics and biology students on Monday, October 20th. Brian graduated from John Hopkins and is currently working on his doctorate at the University of Washington. He is studying Quantum Chromodynamics at the University of Washington. Brian came back to Tower Hill School as part of his ten-year reunion and has extended his stay to give some background on the Large Hadron Collider (LHC). The LHC is a particle accelerator with a 27 km circumference and crosses the border between France and Switzerland. Physicists hope to find answers to subjects such as anti matter, super symmetry, string theory, matter, and the Big Bang.
