Tower Hill Alum, Professor Orin Kerr visited last week to discuss search and seizure rights applicable in daily life. As a professor of criminal procedure, he posed a question to the student body, "Can you say no to an officer of the law asking to inspect your car?" The answer is yes; however, officers are instructed to ask in a casual manner that is hard to deny. Refusal of compliance may also give the officer a reason to subject said car to search. Professor Kerr has also worked in privacy rights in respect to the Internet and the patriot act. Professor Kerr has also served as special council to Justice Sonia Sotomayor.
