Alumnus Tom Tully '61 Inspires Students in Vietnam War Class

On April 30, Tom Tully '61, a Marine combat veteran, visited Brad du Pont's Vietnam War class with three of his friends who also served in the conflict. Rich Magner and Paul Talabisco were Marines wounded during the Tet Offensive and Paul McCann was a combat Navy Corpsman. All three grew up and currently live in the Philadelphia/Wilmington area. The four veterans shared their personal experiences from the war, including those of the Tet Offensive during the early months of 1968.

The six seniors in the class were moved by each veteran's account of his experiences and struck with the realization that these men were only 18-19 years old--their age--when they fought in Vietnam. The students thanked the four veterans for their service and asked them to return to class before the end of the semester.
