Congrats, Darla. All the best to you and TH. Larry, Class of '63

Darla Max Named Chair of Drama Department

Headmaster Chris Wheeler is pleased to announce that Darla Max will be the new Chair of the Drama Department beginning this fall. She is currently Tower Hill's Director of Performing Arts Facilities.
Prior to joining Tower Hill, Darla had a wide and varied career in theatre including owning a theatre company, performing as an equity actress and teaching drama to students at Germantown Friends School, Abington Friends School, Wilmington Friends School, Camden County College, Temple University and Villanova University.

In 1992 Darla began working at Tower Hill as a fight choreographer (Treasure Island and The Bourgeois Gentleman). In 2006, she returned to Tower Hill and began assisting Trina Tjersland with Upper School drama productions and subsequently became more engaged with the school as Trina expanded the drama program in the Middle and Lower Schools. Ultimately, this led to Darla's appointment to a full time position in 2010.

Since then, Tower Hill has benefitted from her diverse skills. She has coordinated usage of the performing arts facilities, directed several productions including Dracula this past fall and has taught drama classes in all three divisions of our school.

Darla holds a degree in Communications and Education from Wheaton College and received her MFA in acting from the University of Iowa.

Tower Hill is very excited to have someone of Darla's talent step in to fill the gap left by Trina Tjersland's retirement.
