GEORGETOWN – Sussex Republican Committee Chairman John Rieley Monday praised the Delaware State Republican Committee’s election of Charlie Copeland as the new chairman.

“Charlie Copeland is a proven leader who brings a dynamic combination of vision and enthusiasm to the chairmanship of the State party,” Mr. Rieley said. “I was honored to second his nomination on Saturday, and I look forward to working with him in our revitalized Delaware Republican party.”

Mr. Copeland operates Associates Graphic Services, a Wilmington printing firm, and was the youngest minority caucus leader in the Delaware State Senate, where he served from 2003 to 2009, representing the Brandywine Hundred and Hockessin senate district. He ran for Lt. Governor against Democrat Matt Denn in 2008.

“Charlie is a ‘numbers guy,’ and he can analyze voting patterns and form coalitions that will be crucial in restoring the two-party system in Delaware,” said Mr. Rieley.
Mr. Copeland was educated at Wilmington’s Tower Hill School and at Duke University, receiving his Baccalaureate in Physics and Computer Sciences and Master’s in Business Administration from the prestigious North Carolina University.

“Charlie’s communication ability is top-notch, and his speeches are inspiring to not only Republicans, but any Delawarean who cares about our state’s future,” said Mr. Rieley. “My message to the entire state of Delaware is, the Delaware Republicans are re-invigorated, revitalized and ready for the future.”
