Girls' Tennis Captures 5th Straight State Championship

The Tower Hill girls' tennis team clinched their 5th consecutive DIAA State Championship and the 16th overall. On May 22, they outpointed Charter School of Wilmington and were declared champions since they had secured enough points, regardless of the unfinished 2nd singles match, which will be played on May 23 due to weather. Eighth grader Grace Dignazio defeated Caeser Rodney’s Hannah Morris to win the Third Singles title. Sophomore Lexi Butler leads in the 2nd singles. The Hillers wrapped up their regular season with a 14-0 record.

Coach Wendy Berkover commented, "To win a state title you have to have a lot of depth, you can never give up and you have to have a lot of heart. And it was doubtful until today. The kids worked hard and got what they deserved."

Boys' tennis made a strong showing but were edged out by Caesar Rodney and Tatnall. However, the team achieved a major milestone this year with their 15-0 regular season--the first time the team has been undefeated in 26 years.

Congratulations to all athletes on the girls' and boys' teams and coaches Berkover and Thompson on an outstanding season.
