We are Thankful

Dear parents,

As we round the bend to Thanksgiving week, we are so very fortunate to be the schoolcommunity we are, with smart, dedicated students, talented and loyal teachers and staff, and parents who believe deeply in the power of a Tower Hill education. What other school has a Hoedown and Hamlet in 2nd Grade and 3rd Grade respectively?! In addition to their daily classes, Middle School eighth-graders are engaged in a Chinese Ethical Systems Debate and all Middle Schoolers watched the film Screenagers; Upper School students watched Miss Representation as the next in our series of Movies that Matter, and our entire school is involved in the Hiller Harvest to collect food for those in need during this season of Thanksgiving.

Tower Hill's athletic teams are amazing in their strength, skill and sportsmanship, with both field hockey and soccer competing in state championships on Friday evening and Saturday afternoon, respectively. Our dedicated coaches deserve tremendous appreciation for their long hours and commitment to teaching our scholar-athletes life lessons through winning, losing, teamwork, perseverance and grit.

Several faculty members, administrators and I had great fun meeting alumni and loyal Tower Hill supporters this week at local gatherings in Wilmington and New York City. On Tuesday we welcome back our youngest alumni from the Classes of 2013-2016 for our All School Thanksgiving Assembly in the Weaver Gym followed by lunch; we hope this becomes a new tradition during Thanksgiving week. Our Thanksgiving Assembly is a time to gather as a whole school to reflect on our Word of the Year, Kindness. We will take stock of all for which we are thankful.

Our students, faculty and staff alike will undoubtedly count you, our loyal parents, among our blessings. Thank you for sharing your children with us and for supporting the mission of Tower Hill. We wish you and your families a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday.

Sincerely,
Bessie
