Freshmen Represent THS at Community Leadership Workshop

A couple of weeks ago, James Allen, Kathryn Cover, Katy Craft, Baily Faller, Kirit Minhas and Isabel Shepherd were selected to represent Tower Hill School at the HOBY Delaware New Castle County Community Leadership Workshop (CLeW). CLeW helps develop and identify leadership skills in young adults.

Throughout the day, they participated in a number of interactive games and activities, as well as listened to speakers who all focused on the importance of developing and growing leadership skills through service. They heard Kate Zipin, who started the non-profit organization “Own Your Awesomeness” that helps inspire young girls and teaches the fundamentals of social justice, speak, followed by Joe McDonough, the founder of the B+ Foundation. Members of a service sorority from the University of Delaware spoke as well, answering questions on college, and the rewards of community service. The final speaker was Meghan Pasricha, a Harvard alum, who emphasized that no one is ever too young to be a positive and supportive leader.

Tower Hill sends two sophomores each year to the Hugh O’Brian Leadership Conference in June. This year, Simi Olurin and Levy Margolin will represent Tower Hill.
