Boys' Baseball Clinches Conference Championship

The boys' baseball team capped an undefeated run through the DISC conference with a 6-1 victory over Sanford on Tuesday, May 9. The Hillers broke open a close game with a four-run 7th inning. The Hillers fell behind 1-0 after three innings, but tied the game in the 5th on an RBI single from Michael Gilbert ‘20Hugh Love’s ‘17 solo homer in the top of the 6th inning gave the Hillers a narrow 2-1 lead. Love improved his record to 6-0 by scattering six hits and one run over seven innings, needing only 67 pitches to complete the game, the sixth consecutive complete game for Hiller starting pitchers. Love contributed a double and homerun, and Kevin Zittlau ‘17Harry Quimby ‘17Bo Anderson ‘18Kyle Motley ‘19 and Gilbert had extra base hits to pace the Hillers offense. The conference championship was the fourth for the Hillers in the past five years. The team currently has a record of 13-2 and has qualified for the DIAA State Baseball Tournament.
