Joanna Kelly '10 Speaks at Alumni Council Senior Dinner

At the Alumni Council Senior Dinner on May 14, keynote speaker Joanna Kelly ’10 addressed the Class of 2018 with words of wisdom following her travels abroad and experience in the courtroom. Kelly challenged the seniors to not only focus on the positive, exciting things in life, but to acknowledge and learn from challenges that they may face. She faced many challenges during her journey through Amman, Jordan, as she worked for the King Hussein Foundation and in Cairo, Egypt, as a presidential intern at the American University. Due to the hard work ethic and educational foundation that Tower Hill provided her, she was able to overcome many difficulties, including setbacks in the courtroom as she recently defended her first client. She attributes much of her grit and determination to the lessons she has learned from Tower Hill. As a recent graduate of UVA Law School, Kelly plans to become an attorney advocating for civil justice reform and focusing on civil rights litigation. Her father, Mike Kelly ’75, was present to hear her speech.
