Mike Castle '57 and Jeff Hobbs '98 to Receive Alumni Awards at Homecoming 2018

The 2018 Distinguished Alumni Award and Young Alumni Award will be presented during Homecoming Weekend at the Alumni Association Annual Meeting on Oct. 20 at 11:45 a.m. in the 1919 Auditorium.
 
The Hon. Michael N. Castle '57 to Receive 2018 Distinguished Alumni Award
 
After graduating from Tower Hill in 1957, Mike Castle '57 attended Hamilton College with a bachelor’s degree in economics. He then attended Georgetown Law School where he obtained a JD degree. After his early education and brief time in the field of law, Castle went on to compile one of the most outstanding records of public service in the history of the state of Delaware. He has been State Representative and Senator (1966-1976), Lt. Governor (1981-1985), Governor (1985-1992), and Congressman (1993-2011). Castle is currently a partner at the law firm DLA Piper in Wilmington, Delaware.
 
Jeffrey W. Hobbs '98 to Receive 2018 Young Alumni Award
 
After graduating from Tower Hill in 1998, Jeff Hobbs '98 attended Yale, where he graduated with a bachelor’s degree in English language and literature. While at Yale, he was awarded the Willets and Meeker prizes for his writing. He spent three years in New York and Tanzania while working with the African Rainforest Conservancy. His first novel, The Tourists, was published in 2007. His latest book, The Short and Tragic Life of Robert Peace (2014), is a biography about his college roommate. The book was a New York Times bestseller and was named best book of the year by the New York Times Book Review.
