Fifth-Graders Visit Delaware Museum of Art

Wednesday afternoon, the 5th Grade took advantage of the nice weather and walked, sketchbooks in hand, to the Delaware Museum of Art to see the current Fairytale and Nursery Rhyme exhibit. Our trip not only served as the perfect extension for our own Fractured Fairytale unit, but it also reinforced our sketchbooking practice from English class this year. With special emphasis on “process over product,” sketchbooking has given our students an outlet to practice creative observation both in class and, after today, the community. Students all enjoyed seeing some of their favorite children’s story, fable and fairytale characters come to life in the pages of famous artists’ sketchbooks and framed illustrations. View more photos here.
