Philly Sports Hall of Fame Honors Pat Williams '58
Former 76ers general manager and Tower Hill School graduate Pat Williams received the Legacy of Excellence Award from the Philadelphia Sports Hall of Fame during its 10th induction ceremony on November 7.

Others inducted include former Sixers great Andrew Toney, former Phillies outfielder Greg Luzinski, former Flyers wing John LeClair, Heisman Trophy winning running back Eddie George and Connecticut women’s basketball coach Geno Auriemma.
Williams, 73, was born in Philadelphia, raised in Wilmington and is the architect of the powerhouse Sixers teams of the late 1970s and early 1980s, including the 1983 NBA championship team.
Williams spent 12 seasons with the Sixers, from 1974 to 1986. He bought Julius Erving’s contract, traded for Moses Malone and Bobby Jones, drafted Toney and Maurice Cheeks and hired Billy Cunningham as head coach.
Williams also is a member of the Wake Forest Sports Hall of Fame, the Delaware Sports Museum and Hall of Fame and has received the John Bunn Lifetime Achievement Award from the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame.
