Senior Peter Smith Scores 1,000 Points in Basketball

On January 28, Tower Hill School senior Peter Smith scored his 1000th point during the varsity basketball game vs. St. Andrew's. Peter is the 9th athlete in Tower Hill's history to score 1,000 points during his high school basketball career. It has been 17 years since a male player has scored 1,000 points.

Peter is a three-sport athlete who also plays football and baseball, but basketball has been his passion. His love for the sport began in his youth when he played on a CYO team with four other players who are now Tower Hill seniors – Sam Murphy, Austin Rafetto, David Hobbs and Patrick Kelly. The CYO team was coached by parent Lou Rafetto.

The eight other multi-sport athletes preceding Peter in reaching the 1000th point milestone include Mary Hobbs '09, Haverford field hockey, All-American; Caitlin Van Sickle '08, UNC field hockey, All-American, USA Women’s field hockey team; Kristin Phillips '05, Johns Hopkins basketball; Meredith Keller '99, UNC field hockey, All-American; Larry Spiller '97; Carmen Wallace '93, Duke basketball captain; Laura Coleman '90, Ohio Wesley field hockey, All-American; Ricky Bush '89, Towson University soccer, National Professional Soccer League.
