Each month of the school year, Tower Hill School is fortunate to have talented artists display their works in the Founders’ Gallery, the school's art gallery dedicated to the eleven founding fathers of the school. Opening receptions are generally held on the first Friday evening of the month, coinciding with the Wilmington Art Loop. Students benefit from the opportunity to meet artists and ask questions about their craft, perspectives and careers.

Anna Mraz '05, Vanna Ramirez '14 and Lindsay von der Luft '13
An artist reception is on Friday, Oct. 12, from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Founders' Gallery.

Three young emerging women artists are featured in Founders’ Gallery for October. They also happen to be Tower Hill alumni! Anna Mraz '05 shares portraits from her recent Faces of Philadelphia (Musicians) exhibit - “celebrating the diverse spirit of the Philly music scene with her … The ethereal paintings capture of a wide range of the city’s talent pool...The faces are recognizable, but Mraz looks and feels beyond the physical traits as she seems to tap into each musician’s individual auratic palette” (The Key - WXPN). Vanna Ramirez '14 is working primarily in ceramics, painting, drawing and sculpture. She recently graduated from Skidmore College with a Bachelor of Science degree in Studio Art with a concentration in ceramics. Her 2-D work often expresses ideas of realism while her 3-D work manifests in abstract forms. She likes to explore the curiosities and poetic rhythms hidden within nature, landscapes, sounds, light and darkness. Lindsay von der Luft '13 enjoys drawing and painting people and the challenge of bringing out sincere emotions. Her primary medium is often sharpie supplemented by watercolor, wine, coffee, and whatever else she can get her hands on. She experiments with different styles but always works to create simple yet powerful images.

An artist reception is on Friday, Nov. 9, from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Founders' Gallery.
"In My Travels’ is the theme of the Delaware
Photographic Society’s 2018 exhibit at Tower Hill School. Society members travel often to nearby places as well as exotic, remote locations. The scenes and people we encounter provided the material for the photographs in this exhibit. It is simply a pot pourri of the world we experienced."
—Karl Leck Print Director, Delaware Photographic Society

The Delaware Photographic Society was organized as the Delaware Camera Club on January 31st, 1931, making it one of the oldest camera clubs in the country. The Society was formed to encourage and develop interest in photography. The objectives at that time were to get the best authorities to give lectures on photography, to have discussion groups within the membership to share knowledge, and to arrange an exhibition of photography in Wilmington.
