Global Social Justice Symposium

This is our second year hosting the Global Social Justice and Service Symposium. The symposium is a collaboration between our Global Initiatives, Social Justice and Service boards. Through topics such as cultural competency, global issues, equity and inclusivity, we will partake in mini workshops that focus on these themes. As a special breakaway, the senior class will meet separately and discuss what life after Tower Hill may look like and why it matters to be globally and culturally minded.

The Symposium will open with a presentation from our keynote speaker, Jordan Hattar, a graduate of the University of Cambridge who joined Michelle Obama's Reach Higher education team. He has recently been speaking full-time in schools, sharing his experiences working with Syrian refugees and encouraging young students to make a difference and follow their hearts.

In addition to our student-led, faculty supported workshops, we're also adding guest facilitators to our repertoire this year and will include Matt Twyman ‘88, Monty Hayman ’87 and Justin Hicks '09. Through this combined effort, students will have the opportunity to examine current social issues in the hopes of fostering a better understanding of the people around us.

Upper School students from local schools' Diversity Clubs are invited to attend with a $10 fee per students. Lunch and snacks are included. RSVP to Director of Social Justice Dyann Connor at dconnor@towerhill.org.
