Third-Graders and Middle Schoolers Team Up for Soup for Souls Service Project

Earlier in the month our students participated in a unique cross-divisional service learning project. Our third-grade students and Middle School students collaborated on a project called Soup for Souls. As part of the third-grade unit on hunger and poverty, students assembled 50 jars of dried bean soup to support the hungry citizens of Wilmington. Our Middle School students crafted 50 handmade ceramic bowls as part of their gift of service week. The bowls will accompany the jars of dried bean soup and together they will be donated to the Lutheran Community Services. Several Representatives from the Lutheran Community Services came to speak to our students to show their gratitude and explain all of the services that their agency offers to help the disadvantaged of our city. The success of the Soup for Souls service project is one example of Tower Hill’s commitment to providing quality service learning projects that support our greater community and various partnerships.
