After School - Kaleidoscope
Our enrichment program offers all Tower Hill students in Tower Tots – Grade 6, the opportunity to participate in a wide variety of extracurricular activities. Classes, taught by Tower Hill faculty and outside specialists, include soccer, drama, ballet, Computer Explorers, chess, foreign language, LEGO® Mania, sewing, tennis, karate, gymnastics and more are offered here at Tower Hill School. ALL Tower Hill students in Tower Tots – Grade 6 are welcome to register for an enrichment class regardless of whether or not they are enrolled in the formal After School program.

Greg Rogers of Chess Masters of Delaware offers his expertise in teaching Tower Hill students how to play chess and improve their current level of competence. The benefits of chess are numerous. Crazy 8s Math (Grades 3-5) $210

Get your kids fired up about math with our Crazy 8s after-school math club! Every week participants may build stuff, make music, play games — all while bonding with friends over math. You’ll participate in all types of fun games and activities, including Glow-in-the-Dark City, Crazy 8s Race, Funny Money, Beach Ball Party, Funky Fractals, Walk on the Wild Side, Super Cube Shuffle

Computer Kids Club (K-4) $250

We master the “T” in S.T.E.M. programs! Students learn the Mac operating
system and computer skills to help them with projects in middle school and
beyond. You know that book report or slideshow they will need to prepare?
Done! Students ace coding with Minecraft, Scratch, Blockly and JavaScript; typing, increasing their WPM; graphic design; animation; math and engineering activities; and more! Our new techies will learn how to create text, fonts, rotation, scaling, paint and drawing tools while they design a project just for you by the end of the program! Students learn Chinese culture and language with Ms. Yeh, who continues to share her knowledge and enthusiasm. The popularity of the class has grown immensely, and we now have four different levels of competence in Chinese.  A good mix of activities such as role-playing, games and cooperative work will encourage learning through interaction. Ample time will be spent on further development of students’ listening and speaking skills in all levels. Students will learn to read starting in the Intermediate level. Students keep the same level of competency throughout the school year. Science Olympiad Fun engages students in a variety of hands-on, fun STEM experiences in a noncompetitive, less formal way than the official Science Olympiad. Students will participate in at least one hands-on building Science Olympiad activity (e.g. building bridges), which reinforces science applications and technology; at least one fact-based or data-driven activity (e.g. magnetic magic), which reinforces science concepts and knowledge and at least one experiment-type activity (e.g. circuit wizardry), which reinforces science process and thinking skills. TechStars by Computer Explorers (TT-K) $175

Guided by Debbie Richard, students learn critical thinking and problem solving while being exposed to the best practices in early technology education. This very popular introductory technology class enhances children’s reading, math and science skills while promoting social and emotional development. Class activities change weekly and provide technology exploration using laptop computers, iPads, digital cameras, robots and more. Parents receive weekly communication of class activities via email, as well our monthly Director’s E-News offering links to current technology articles and suggestions for local “unplugged” family activities. Olympiad Gymnastics (PreK - 4) $175

This program will help children develop coordination, body awareness, strength, flexibility, balance and confidence in a fun, positive and safe environment. Students are picked up at the Kaleidoscope building at 3 p.m, transported via van to Olympiad Gymnastic Club in Newport (near Rt. 100 and Maryland Ave.) and return to THS by 5 p.m. Students are required to wear leotards (please, no tights) or T-shirt and gym shorts (sweatpants on colder days). Long hair must be pulled back, no jewelry. Martial Arts (K-4) $210

Coach Mike Kleinert, a former professional soccer player, US Soccer ‘A’ licensed coach, and former Technical Director for the Delaware Youth Soccer Association (DYSA), focuses his instruction on skill development and fun. Skills and ideas related to passing, receiving, shooting and dribbling will be addressed through games and game-like activities to create the optimal learning environment for soccer. To help grow each player’s leadership capacity, we begin by identifying what it means to be a great teammate. To reward the desired behaviors, in each session there will be the opportunity to be named “Captain of the Day.” The captain(s) of the day will be the player(s) who consistently set the example of how to be the best teammate they know how to be. MyServe Tennis utilizes a USTA initiative “10 & Under” tennis format: smaller court dimensions and nets, child-sized racquets and special balls. Skilled professionals instruct the students in the fundamentals of the game through fun activities and plenty of opportunities to practice hitting balls. Session will consist of 6 one-hour classes and take place in the Weaver Gym or tennis courts. The class size is limited to 15 students. Petite Yogi (Grades 1-4) $180

This introduction to yoga incorporates playful movements and games in a noncompetitive environment. Delaware Sharks Field Hockey Club is partnering with Tower Hill to offer an introduction to field hockey for Grades 1-4. Athletes will learn field hockey basics through a mix of skills drills and fun games. My Serve Golf $100

MyServe introduces the fundamentals of Golf to young children through playful, enjoyable drills and games assuring engagement and fun. We focus on learning the basics: proper grip, stance, swing and good sportsmanship. All equipment is supplied: golf clubs that are specifically designed for children, golf balls and special targets. We ease your child into learning a new sport with lots of room and opportunity for growth and improvement.


ARTS

Acting (K–5) $300

Join Child Drama Workshops for this interactive drama workshop including creative movement, theater exercises and improvisational role-playing. Students will learn the fundamentals of the theater including stage geography and terminology. Basic acting techniques such as concentration, emotional awareness and characterization are explored. This creative experience allows for children to express themselves imaginatively by improvising favorite stories and original ideas. Costume accessories and props will be used to enhance creativity during the workshop. An original and improvisation-based play will be presented to parents and peers on the final day of class. Dare to Dance (PreK-K) $195
